SAILS TO SEQUINS
The Spencer Family Trilogy
If Maggie weren’t a twin, she would be convinced she was adopted. She just doesn’t fit in her wealthy conservative Southern family, so she turns her back on her trust fund and her mother’s ceaseless snobby matchmaking, to work on a mega-yacht. Five years in, she’s loving life with crewmates as close as family, bunking with her BFF, visiting exotic ports of call. It all starts to unravel when a handsome passenger climbs up the gangplank. Maggie resists love’s pull until her long-lost maternal grandmother encourages her to reassess her priorities. Can Maggie give up the yacht to follow her heart?
BIO
Joanna Clare is an English-born American writer. She writes Contemporary Women’s Fiction, mainstream fiction with a romance core. She is drawn to explore family dynamics, primarily the relationships between mothers and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, and those all-important chosen families – best friends. Throw a love interest or two into the mix, and things quickly get complicated.
As an avid world-traveler and born nomad, Joanna likes her books to have a strong travel element, to be layered on top of exciting and exotic locales, both at home and abroad. And careful not to sound preachy, she manages to weave in a little thread of environmental protection, from the oceans to organic farming.
Her Trilogy about the Spencer family is in the works. Descended from a Southern banking dynasty, their wealth and social standing come from a strong work ethic, conservative values, and philanthropy. The first book introduces Maggie Spencer, the 27-year old daughter who rebels against her mother’s matchmaking efforts to see her well married, and takes off to forge her own way in the world. The second book features Elisabeth, the matriarch, who married for money and position and has earned every penny. The final book in the trilogy is Will’s story. Maggie’s twin, he’s different from her in every way.
The first book, Sails to Sequins, is complete.
